Prior to completing her counselling studies, Nadia worked as a primary school teacher for 13 years.
This means that she has experience working with children and adolescents (and their families) from diverse cultural backgrounds, with varied needs, ability levels and learning styles. It also makes her particularly suited to working with children with learning difficulties or school-related challenges.
Realising that mental health support and well-being was where her passion was, Nadia completed her Master of Counselling at Monash University in 2021 and has been loving her new role supporting children and families to improve their well-being and overcome social and behavioural issues.
Nadia uses evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness approaches, but she applies these techniques in fun and creative activities, like art projects with the children to fully engage them, give them some mastery over the therapeutic environment and help them make sense of their experiences.
Nadia particularly enjoys working with children who may be experiencing issues with; low self-esteem, anxiety, emotional, social, learning and behavioural difficulties. She has a friendly, collaborative and understanding approach and believes strongly in cooperating with children, parents and schools to develop effective strategies which empower children’s well-being, increase their confidence, create resilience and help them meet their social, learning and well-being goals.
Nadia sees clients aged 6-14 years, via face-to-face or Telehealth (phone or video) appointments on Wednesdays & Thursdays
